Celebrating The Prince’s Trust

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were joined by a host of celebrities at the beginning of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Prince’s Trust, which Charles set up in 1976 with his severance pay from the Royal Navy. TRHs were attending the ‘Celebrate Success’ event at the Theatre Royal in London, in recognition of young people who have overcome adversity. Amongst the famous faces were former James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan; England footballer and BBC presenter Gary Lineker; pop singers Will Young and Lemar; Jade Jagger; actor Joseph Fiennes and Formula One driver Jenson Button. In a reminder of his commitment to the nation’s youth Prince Charles spoke in support of those often dismissed as hoodies and thugs: “The celebrations this year have caused me to think a little bit about what motivated me all those years ago. I still believe that every young person has some talent or ability and that too many go through life without this ever being discovered and unlocked. Many of these young people are dismissed as youths, hoodies or thugs or whatever. But they are not faceless and nameless. They are individuals, and all I want my trust to do is to invest in their futures so that they can live lives which are fulfilling and rewarding for themselves, their families, their communities and their country.”
